MIOSHA 2023 Take A Stand for Workplace Safety and Health
Across the state on August 7-11, 2023, the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) is partnering with employers to "Take a Stand" for workplace safety and health.
MIOSHA reminds all Michigan employers of their duty to protect employees from fall hazards. Workers who are six feet or more above lower levels are at risk of severe injury or death if they should fall. To ensure protection, employers must provide fall protection and the right equipment for the job, including proper ladders, scaffolds, and safety gear.
With this being the 19th annual Take a Stand Day, the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) dedicates its time to visiting high-hazard industries in Michigan, as identified in the MIOSHA Strategic Plan.
This initiative involves safety and health professionals from MIOSHA, including compliance staff, outreach consultants, managers, and supervisors, who will be available for one-on-one consultations throughout the day. It's important to note that participating workplaces will not face citations or fines. However, participants must agree to correct all severe conditions.
The submission deadline for Take a Stand Day is Friday, July 21, 2023.
