We asked out lead instructor Sid, about ways we could limit MIOSHA fines and this is what he had to say...
MIOSHA finds this has been going back and forth. The State of Michigan MIOSHA by law is required to meet the same penalties as federal MIOSHA and this was not done. In fact, it's created us some problems in teaching our MIOSHA course. I would highly recommend that you get on my MIOSHA's email so that when they do update those penalties, or they update any of the standards, you can get those standards as soon as possible.
Some of you guys aren't doing any employee training, but you're going to have to start doing that if you want to reduce your liability. But you also want to know what the fines are going to be. And don't forget that this silica dust is still a major problem out there. And the penalties for that are tremendous. So keep the dust down, do what you got to do to reduce that it dust. Okay?
