EPA extends deadline for RRP training and certification:

Since the RRP Rule became effective on April 22, 2010 concerns have been raised about the difficulty of getting into training. The EPA has extended the deadline for renovation firms and contractors to obtain the necessary training and certifications.  They have established the following guidelines:

  • The EPA will not take enforcement action for violating the certification requirement until October 1, 2010.

  • The EPA will not enforce against individual workers if the person has applied to enroll in or has enrolled in a class by no later than September 30, 2010.
  • All renovators must complete the training by December 31, 2010.

This means that every renovator and firm must apply for training by September 30
th and have completed it by December 31
, 2010 or else risk the fine.
